This spacious, homely and perfectly situated self-catering house welcomes guests to make themselves at home with full use of the kitchen facilities, inviting dining room and cosy sitting room. Step outside the garden veranda and enjoy the south-facing outdoor terrace and conservatory where the sun shines and visitors are welcome to embrace the perfect spot to relax and unwind with a book, friends or a glass of red. While the large open kitchen is equipped for any type of meal prep or delightful dish, you can always cheat with a takeaway delivered to The Monkey Puzzle or from a nearby eatery.
The Monkey Puzzle History
Historical records indicate that the property was originally constructed in the 1700s, with the house seeing centuries of history. While it was first a gentleman’s lodging, it would then become one of Bunclody’s few guesthouses. Over 50 years ago, it was known that fishermen would visit Bunclody from the UK and Europe and stay in the guesthouse before crossing over to the River Slaney, which back then was Ireland’s greatest spring salmon fisheries.
